Well for the past 5 days it has been raining and snowing almost constantly, a rare even usually for Nevada to get this much moisture accumulation. Unfortunately we also have another week of snow ahead of us, and the pens are already drenched. We probably won't get much ranch work done this weekend, as it is too sloppy to do a whole lot. Hopefully the river running between the barns will dry up soon =].

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Well, I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! We had a wonderful time with friends and family. The horses got some well deserved rest and a tiny bit extra in their mangers. =]
We had snow on the ground for the first time in a long time that I can remember, and everyone is feeling extra frisky as a result. I finished re-braiding everyone for winter, and I cannot believe how much THICKER Ace's mane has gotten! It was already thick and gorgeous to begin with, but man it looks fantastic now. He grows hair better than any horse I have ever had. About two months ago I cut his tail to about the middle of his cannon bone, so he would stop stepping on it and ripping out hair when he was backing in correct form, and it is already down to his coronet band again. Man, I wish my hair grew like that!
For the most part, things have been relatively quiet around here except for one incident. Ugh. Not even going to go into that now. =[
The horses are getting furry, and I miss the clean clipped look of summer. It's sad I can't wait to shave them all again. Though it takes hours I cannot wait!
Another thing to look forward to: Masq's first baby will be on the ground this April! I'm so excited!

Fall is officially here...
Well I hope that everyone made it through Halloween weekend safe and sound. It was pretty uneventful here, we just spent some quality family time together being that I don't have any little ones of my own or nieces or nephews yet, thank goodness!
I started saddling Hope the last few days, she is around a year and a half now. Of course we don't start colts here at C Bar M Ranch until they are at least big 2.5 year olds or till their three year old year. Just getting her accustomed to it now so its not a shock when it comes time to break her. It went really well, she didn't even buck, which suprised me some, as she is a very spunky little filly. Though, she does have the very calm sensible mind of her mom which I highly value. I have very high hopes for her. She officially has hit 14 hh now, so I expect her to at least hit 15 which will be perfect for my goals for her. I still have not decided whether I will offer her for sale or not after she is broke. I know she will definatly be a nice riding horse, and will also be doing some cross training. I may also break her to cart because she is athletic and very sound minded, but regardless her focus will be under saddle. As she grows I will make a decision on whether or not I will train her to be a western pleasure/ & trail horse or a performance horse with emphasis in reining. Right now with how leggy and refined she is I think she is better built for Pleasure, but as we all know a lot can change in a year or so. All I know is she is beautiful and built phenomenal!
We gave all our fall shots today, and bought the supplies we needed for winter and installed them. I also decided it would be a pretty good idea to put in the water heaters being that it is supposed to snow tonight.
Junior is doing really well driving on the street, in the arena and on the trails. Man he sure is wonderful in cart. Really easy going and will do just about anything you ask him to. I'm getting spoiled driving him all the time. =] He has also been out in groups driving several times and doesn't mind a bit. He is really solid.
I am starting physical therapy so hopefully I will be back to training under saddle, and will be able to break Masq to harness sometime this month. I have already done most of my prep work that I can with out actually jogging and driving him on the ground. The doc said as long as I'm careful I should be able to return to that soon.
Almost forgot! Taught both Junior and Masq how to lie down on command it is pretty cute! Masq just flops down and closes his eyes waiting for a massage. Junior on the other hand gently sets him self down and sleeps while he gets his massage. They have learned to love it.
Ace hasn't been getting a while lot of work, finally all of the scabs have fallen off and everything has healed for the most part. Of course I still can't ride, so he's just been getting ground work here and there. I feel bad because you can just tell by the look on his face that he's pretty sad he's not being ridden every day. He definatly misses it. Poor guy, I promise buddy as soon as I can I'll put you back to work. Ace is the kind of horse that HATES not having a job, and HATES not being worked both physically and mentally pretty hard. He looks forward to it and puts in his all, all the time. He's such a good boy.
Now, I just need to get the dogs fall shots done and we will be set for winter!

Happy Halloween!
At C Bar M Ranch, the weather is cooling down and the horses are feeling frisky again. My knee is finally feeling stronger, and I should be able to ride next month hopefully. I am starting physical therapy so I just have to wait for the okay. My fall plans include starting Masq in harness, and saddling Hope regularly to get her accustomed to the saddle. I have been thinking a lot about the future, and I am hoping to move in 2015 to a bigger place. There I will start boarding and taking in horses for full time training. We plan to buy several miniature mares this spring to add to our breeding program so keep an eye out for new additions. Also, if you have a miniature horse that you would like to have started in cart, look no further. Send your miniature to me and I will lay the foundation as well as get him or her comfortable and working well in a cart in the arena, on the street and on the trail. I am also now excepting bookings for the 2011 breeding season to my one of my miniature stallions Masq, who is open to a limited number of out side mares. Everyone around her is looking furry, its always sad to see the show clips be replaced my long woolly hair. Hope everyone is being safe and enjoying their Halloween!

I am finally starting to heal and making some progress. I am walking much better and have been driving junior frequently. He is doing very well on the street and in the arena. He really loves to trot out and go somewhere. Masq and him are getting along great and are becoming good pals. Ace and Hope haven't gotten much work lately since I have been hurt, simply because the big horses are riskier to handle. Plus I can't ride for the next two months... =[

Welcome!
Welcome to C Bar M's official blog. I figured it would be easier for me, and for those of you who keep up on specific horse's progress to find all of the information here, on one blog rather than on my several separate blogs. So, for future reference most all updates will be here =]
For those of you who don't know, I recently purchased a new 2007 stallion, Pacific Masquerade. He was bred and raised by Pacific Pintos, and I bought him from Ravenloft Miniatures. He is my new herd sire prospect, as well as a driving prospect. He will be availiable to outside mares beginning the 2011 breeding season. Visit my website C Bar M Ranch for more information on any of our stallions or email me. Masq is AMHA & AMHR registered. He is a Sabino Overo stallion, that is sure to add some color to your babies. He is very correct, has never been sweated or conditioned! This is good genetics at play only! I am ecstatic about his arrival.
We have a total of three stallions here, and the other one I will feature today is Ace, C Bar Ms Wildcard Ace. Ace is a 2005 Spanish Type Mustang stallion that I adopted in April of 2009. He has a very strong Spanish look about him, and incredible movement. He is currently under saddle and is fabulous to ride and work. He's both fun and sane. He's a solid true black, with one sock, and a star. Ace is very good around all horses, and does not act like your typical stallion. He is very sweet and docile, but will still blow your socks off when you see him in action.
Also, I recently dislocated my knee. I will not be taking in any more horses for training at this time. I will however be able to keep giving lessons and general instruction. Contact me for more information. So needless to say I won't be participating in any more late season shows =[. I swear this has been the year from hell for injuries. I will be able to start riding again (according to my Dr) in approximately two months. However, I will still be accepting Miniature horses for driving training starting in two weeks, as I can still ground drive and ride in a cart.
